Forklift Truck Training

The Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 and the Lifting Operations and Lifting Regulations 1998 and the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 require operators to be trained in the use of their equipment.

It is the employer’s responsibility to ensure that every operator is trained.

Awarding Body
The Association of Industrial Truck Trainers (AITT) is recognised by the Health & Safety Commission (HSC) and administered by the Independent Training Standards Scheme and Register (ITSSAR). The AITT scheme is nationally recognised and covers the full range of Lift Trucks.

Course Content

  • Introduction;
  • Relevant regulations;
  • Approved Code of Practice;
  • Duties of employer / employee;
  • Counterbalance principles;
  • Daily inspection;
  • Introduction to machine and basic manoeuvring;
  • Introduction to hydraulics;
  • Stacking & de-stacking;
  • Gradients;
  • Vehicle loading;
  • Practical and theory test;
  • Training at customers premises.

Training at Customers Premises
One of our experienced qualified instructors can carry out a training programme at your premises. This is priced on a daily rate plus travel. We do need a classroom environment for the theoretical part and an area allocated for the practical element together with an assortment of loads.

Training at our centre
We are proud to offer excellent training facilities at our centre, which is situated on the Marsh Barton Trading Estate, Exeter, Devon. We have a purpose built sheltered training area for practicial training and a training room specifically used for the theoretical element of the course. We supply refreshments mid morning and afternoon to all our trainees. Our rest room can be used for lunch or trainees are welcome to use the restaurant at our centre or other facilities on the estate.

On successful completion every individual will receive the following:

  • Nationally recognised certificate;
  • Individual training report;
  • Certificate endorsement card.
